Saw it on the Panasonic UK website & was just wondering what the difference was between the EH50 that was also listed on the site? I tried to get the specs off the site but I must have been doing something wrong because I could'nt. Maybe it has a bigger hard drive or also plays PAL & NTSC? Just wondering guys no big deal.

European model is the same as EH50, but have 200GB HDD (instead of 80GB) and have DV in on board. You can check details on German Panasonic site (specification is readable for English speakers - I don't speak German for instance).

Note, that american EH50 have 100GB HDD, so I'm not sure what size will be in american EH60, maybe even 250GB?

So you think there will be a USA EH60 model? I just received the 2005 Panasonic DVD Recorder Catalog & all that's listed are the 10,30 & 50 just like the website & usually the catalogs have far better info & models listed than the websites do.

This from a UK web site dated Feb 24:

...The three models, DMR-EH50, DMR-ES30V and DMR-ES10, will be available in Japan on April 1 and DMR-EH60 and DMR-EH70V will be on the market on May 1, 2005.
.
.
.

The DIGA line-up now consists of nine models including the DMR-E700BD Blu-ray Disc (BD)/DVD recorder to offer a variety for consumers to select a model which best suits their needs.
.
.
.
SO I guess, the UK guys are saying that when it's complete, Panasonic will have nine models of DVD recorders. Blu-ray by Christmas? :)

To answer Bill1313s question, here are the descriptions from the site:

The DMR-EH60 has a 300 GB hard disk drive offering 532 hours in EP mode.
The DMR-EH50 has a 200 GB hard disk drive offering 355 hours in EP mode.
The DMR-EH70V features a 200 GB HDD and a VHS recorder.

I dunno about anyone else here, but my EH50 has a 100GB hard drive, not a 200. The UK versions of these must be slightly different.

I fully expect a version of each of these to be available in the US quite soon.

The price will probably be in excess of $3000, so I'm not in the market just yet. Still, the sooner they are out, the sooner they will come down in price. I wonder what the blank media will cost?

All European Panasonic modells play both PAL & NTSC.
European DMR-EH50 has a 80GB HD.
European DMR-EH60 has same spec as EH50, but a 200GB HD and a DV-in.
The spec above from Church AV Guy is the Spec for the Japan market.

This has the ring of truth to it. The stuff I quoted DID come from a UK web site, but nowhere did it actually say that they were listing the specs for the UK versions of the machines, or the UK release dates. From Panasonic's history of changing specific features from the Japanese, American and UK models of their DVD recorders, the ones Bengan quoted above are much more believable. I don't believe the article mentioned firewire at all.

I thought I saw somewhere that HD Recorders would be opening at around the $1,000 mark? which would make more sense if they wanted to cut into the China DVD Recorder market.
